Marera Valley Lodge is the Lake Manyara night of our 6-Day Tanzania Wildlife Safari, the newest lodge of the Bougainvillea Group, near the village of Rhotia on the outskirts of Karatu, about midway between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater. Cottages are spread through landscaped gardens with views over the valley. Each room has a king or twin beds under mosquito nets, a dressing area, a fireplace for the cool highland evenings, a large bathroom with a shower and a veranda over the gardens; triples are possible on request, and two cottages work as family suites with connecting rooms. There is a swimming pool and a restaurant, and the lodge can arrange birdwatching, cultural visits, massage, hikes and walks. It sits close to the main road, which makes the next day's drive towards the Serengeti easy.
