Why we use this property
Chada Katavi is the luxury upgrade on our 6-Day Katavi Fly-In Wilderness Safari, run by Nomad Tanzania in the same spot for more than twenty years. Six canvas tents stand under tamarind and sausage trees on the edge of the Chada Plain, each en-suite with a bucket shower, a flush loo and charging for cameras and phones. The mess and lounge sit beneath a huge shade tree looking out over the plain, where buffalo, elephant and lion move through the dry season. Nomad's guides are known for their walking safaris here, and the camp also offers fully open game-drive vehicles, picnics and fly camping on the plains for a night under a mosquito net. Chada opens from June to November, when the dry season concentrates game on the last of the water; children must be 12 or older.
