Why we use this property
Mbali Mbali Katavi, formerly Katuma Bush Lodge, is the alternative stay on our 6-Day Katavi Fly-In Wilderness Safari and the sister of Mbali Mbali Mahale on Lake Tanganyika, which makes the two parks easy to combine. It lies in the centre of the park, looking over the Katisunga Plains, and was refurbished when Mbali Mbali took it over in 2018. Eight tented rooms, one of them a family room on a shared platform, stand on raised wooden platforms under thatch, with Zanzibari beds and bathrooms with glass showers and double basins. The two-tier wood-and-thatch main area has a lounge, bar and dining room, with a deck and fire pit facing the plain for sundowners and dinner outside. Game drives, guided walks and picnic lunches are the rhythm of the day. It is also the Katavi base of our 8-Day Katavi and Mahale Luxury Safari and our 10-Day Katavi, Mahale and Lake Tanganyika Safari.
