Why we use this property
Sand Rivers Selous is one of the luxury upgrades on our 4-Day Nyerere Safari with Boat Safari, run by Nomad Tanzania and first built by the conservationist Richard Bonham in 1984. It sits on a sweeping bend of the Rufiji River, looking over sandbars that widen in the dry season. There are eight stone-and-thatch rooms, open-fronted onto the river: riverside rooms with large en-suite bathrooms, and hillside suites with their own living space and plunge pool. The lounge, dining room and bar run along the bend of the river, and the swimming pool is set into the rocks at the water’s edge, shaded by an old baobab. Game drives, guided walks, boat trips and fly camping are offered. June to October is the most comfortable season; outside it the park is hot and humid.
